Sega's Nishiyama Talks about Potential for 2D Sonic Games
Sun, 12 Oct 2008 14:05:00 PDT
If a new wave of old school-styled 2D gaming reemerges through digital distribution, we may someday be able to thank Konami's Bionic Commando: Rearmed and Capcom's Mega Man 9 for spearheading the effort. It seems Sega is the latest developer to consider the possibilities, as Akinori Nishiyama, producer of the upcoming Sonic Unleashed, spoke with Kotaku about the potential of making new (or remaking old) 2D Sonic games. Sun, 12 Oct 2008 11:30:00 PDT
Earlier this year, Microsoft stirred up a small hubbub when they announced they would be delisting some Xbox Live Arcade titles that met certain criteria of underperformance -- slow sales, bad reviews, etc. But at the Tokyo Game Show earlier this week, Xbox Live corporate vice president John Schappert told IGN that won't be the case. Rather, Schappert said Microsoft has only ever "set parameters by which we can delist," but insisted they wouldn't move forward on limiting the size of XBLA titles offered.
