I've never understood the appeal of scary games -- or movies, for that matter. Considering Dead Space is marketed as a horror game -- "a bloodcurdling interactive horror experience," according to the official site -- I found myself strangely comfortable with it at first. Then I realized something: It isn't really a horror game. Or at least, not a very scary one.

If a new wave of old school-styled 2D gaming reemerges through digital distribution, we may someday be able to thank Capcom for spearheading the effort with Bionic Commando: Rearmed and Mega Man 9. It seems Sega is the latest developer to consider the possibilities, as Akinori Nishiyama, producer of the upcoming Sonic Unleashed, spoke with Kotaku about the potential of making new (or remaking old) 2D Sonic games. No, nothing's officially planned yet, so don't get your hopes up -- but at least Nishiyama is considering his options.
Spore Expansion Available for Pre-Order on EA Store

It seems the ephemeral Spore expansion that appeared on Amazon and GameStop earlier this month (only to quickly disappear) is indeed launching on November 18, as those listings seemed to suggest. A brand new listing for the "Creepy & Cute Parts Pack" has appeared on none other than EA's own online store (via Joystiq), showing it's already available for pre-order and confirming the earlier reported November release date.
Movie, Photo Sharing Could be Added to New Xbox Experience

There are plenty of new features coming with the New Xbox Experience when it launches on November 19, but one that won't be included is the ability to share movies and photos with your friends online. But according to Xbox director of marketing Albert Penello, that's a feature that could easily be added in the future thanks to the soon-to-be revamped structure of the Xbox dashboard.
